HOME TOWN HERO DOES THE ROTAX/YAMAHA DOUBLE AGAIN |

|
Home-town hero Bradley Tyrrell made a winning return to the track where he started his career at the second round of the 2005 Top Half karting series at Tokoroa's Pinex Raceway on Sunday.
The17-year-old also completed another noable double, again claiming victory in both the Rotax Max Light and Yamaha 100cc Light classes.
It has been a roller-coaster last few months for the fast-rising young south-Waikato driver, who has so far won two of the three New Zealand Rotax Max Challenge rounds held and completed his first Rotax Max/Yamaha Light double at the big Citrus meeting at Te Puke at Queen's Birthday weekend.
Second place in Rotax Max Light was also a talking point at Tokoroa, the runner-up spot going to Tauranga's Niki Urwin. Up until a career-ending accident in Australia which left him paralysed from the waist down Urwin was one of New Zealand's leading motocross riders.
Less than two years after the accident the determined young Bay of Plenty man was behind the wheel of a kart however and his improvement in the last year in a hand control-equipped Rotax Max has been nothing short of amazing.
Second place on Sunday was his best result to date at a major meeting regional meeting, a real fillip as he continues to develop his competition career on four wheels.
Third was Anthony Pedersen, son of Caltex Ford V8 Touring Car driver Paul Pedersen. The result was another impressive one for the 17-year-old from Rotorua and comes hot on the heels of a third place at the most recent round of the New Zealand Rotax Max Challenge.
Second behind Tyrrell in the Senior 100cc Yamaha Light class was young Rotorua driver Mathew Bufton from Auckland's Jason Catley.
Senior 100cc Yamaha Heavy went to former New Zealand champion Darren Aislabie from Aucklanders Leyton Kendall and Royce Rollinson, Rotax Max Heavy to Nick Vallance from Bradley Alexander and Gemma Olsen.
Open was the preserve of Scott Harrison who led home Michael Pulman and Jason Farmilo.
In the Junior classes, Junior 100cc Yamaha was won by Graeme Smyth from fellow Aucklander Ben Dallas and Hamilton's Tyler Richardson while Junior National went to Jayden Hughes from Ryan Hellier and Jake Pascoe
Junior Restricted saw another good win by former Cadet class pace-setter James Stead from Richard Moore and Nicholas Cassidy, while National champion Arie Hutton topped the Cadets, leading home Mt Wellignton club mates Paul Blomqvist, Daniel Colville and Bradley Hicks.
