Tech Nights
Our first Tech night is planned for the Cadet Class
John Kelly has kindly offered to assist with the technical and information night which will be held at the club rooms. The early arrival of their Baby, Max forced a date reschedule !
The first in the series will focus on the Raket 85 engine, specifically, what is required for teching. Many newcomers have never been through a full tech - in fact, some have been racing for quite some time and don't know what is required, so for newbies or stalwarts, come along and find out more.
7pm on Wednesday 23rd May
We plan to organise informative nights for other classes as well as other topics including chassis setup and data analysis
Please contact Jared Lawson with any suggestions on what you and others would find useful.

Rule change proposals can be found on the KartSport New Zealand web site Proposed Rules
Please take the time to read these..... any feedback you wish the Committee to take into consideration when formulating the Clubs response should be forwarded urgently to Alan Grocock

Top Half 2012
123 entries were received for the opening round of the 2012 Top Half Series. KartSport Hamilton hosted the event, which would also act as a warm up to the forthcoming NZ Sprint Championships at Easter.
Mt Welly was well represented, boasting the most entrants at 28, closely followed by Hamilton at 27 - with Hamilton certainly benfitting with a hoard of new memberships with visitors from out of the region attending to sharpen their skills and take a closer look at the competition they are likely to face at the Nationals.
The meeting was run over two days, but that did not mean there was time to relax. THe action was busy from the start, with racing commencing in the early afternoon on the Saturday, after a short practice session in the morning.
Sunday saw a damp start, with most running the tuning session on the new Dunlop wets
In cadets, Joshua Parkinson, Liam Lawson, Ben Morrison, Ashton Grant and Conner Burson flew the flag for Mt Welly, all putting in solid performances. At the end of the weekend, Joshua was in 5th place, ahead of Liam in 7th, Ben in 11th, Ashton in 17th and Connor in 19th, out of a field of 23, by far, the largest of the weekend. Some excellent performance put in all round.
In J/R Mt Welly stalwart Chelsea Herbert finished the day on the podium in 3rd, with Sebastian Bainbridge very close in 5th. TIght racing in a class field that will for sure be an indication of things to come at Easter.
CJ Sinclair put in an excellent performance to podium with Jonathan Buxeda 5th in Junior Yamaha. Expect to see these two feature throughout the series and of course next weekend.
In Formula junior, Luke Dobbs was the standout performer, finishing 1st, with Jonathan Buxeda 3rd, Joel Herbert 5th with James Blair and Oscar Grant 8th and 10th respectively. Fast paced action from this exciting class.
The Kinsman brothers showed their class in Yamaha light, with Daniel taking 1st and Matthew a close second. Arie Hutton won the first 2 heats, but problems in heats 3 and 4 saw him move down the order to come in 4th for the day. Shaun Grocock and Ben Kimber finishing 11th and 14th.
Daniel Conner took out the Rotax Lights, with 4 wins and a second, an outstanding performance. Paul Blomqvist finishing 5th and Ben Kimber 10th.
In Rotax Heavy, Aarron Cunningham placed 2nd for the day on countback - equal on points with first, watch this space in rounds 2 and 3. Cameron Kimber finishing 8th, with Roger Edwards, Andrew Grant and Paul Southam 10th, 11th and 12th
Overall Mt Wellington leads the interclub trphy with 4991 points, followed closely by Hamilton on 4796 and Auckland on 3076. A great result and congratulations to all those that competed, flying the flag for the greatest Kart Club in the country.
We look forward to round 2 in EBOP on April 22nd.
