Annual Event Produces Top Driving

Racing at the 46th Mt Wellington Kart Club Anniversary event saw 100 drivers fiercely compete for top honours in eleven classes. The challenging race programme required that drivers adapt to the normal and reverse direction configuration along with the mighty oval. This coupled with uncertainty of the weather and the occasional sprinkle of rain added to the numerous challenges for the drivers and their pit crews.

Also up for contention were two prestigious Mt Wellington trophies. 

The 2006 winner of the Vera Keesing Memorial Trophy was awarded to Henry Thomas – Kircher. His drive saw him take out the chequered flag after close racing in the Junior Yamaha field.

The 2006 winner of the Neil Sheehan Challenge Trophy for the top Open Class driver was Daniel Eggleton. The combination of speed and driving made the race a favourite for the spectators.
