DALLAS HAS CLUB MEMBERS REACHING FOR THE RECORD BOOK

Young Auckland karter Ben Dallas has fellow members of his KartSport Mt Wellington club searching through the record books this week trying to ascertain whether or not anyone else has EVER completed a clean sweep of a Three-Way Series class.

The 15-year-old from St Kentigern College was unbeaten over the three rounds of the annual Three-Way Series, to claim the Senior 100cc Yamaha Light title with a perfect points score, the first time it is believed this has happened.

The result is just the latest impressive one for the Meadowbank schoolboy since he graduated from the junior ranks earlier this year, finishing second in (the Yamaha Light) class at the Top Half series then winning it at KartSport Mt Wellington's Club Championship meeting and the Auckland Schools' Championship.

The final round of the 2006 Three-Way Series was held in hot, dry conditions at KartSport Mt Wellington' s track at Tainui Rd in Mt Wellington on Sunday with over 130 competitors enjoying the once-a-year-opportunity to run on the high-speed 'oval' configuration.

It was a day for the favourites at the track with seven drivers (Kaleb Currie - Unrated Cadets, Mitchell Evans - Junior 100cc Yamaha Restricted, Tim Vickers - Junior Yamaha, Richard Moore - Formula Junior, Dean O'Sullivan - Senior 100cc Yamaha Heavy, Daniel Eggleton - Open, and Ben Dallas - Senior 100cc Yamaha Light) sealing overall class wins with a win on the day.

In the other four classes contested Brock Barrie broke through to win 125cc Rotax Max Light from second-generation drivers Simon Evans and Richard Oxton, Aaron Cunningham beat series winner Brent Murgatroyd and Peter Ball to win 125cc Rotax Max Heavy, Stephen Kelly turned the tables on Aaron Wilon in Cadet and Oscar McMeeking won Club Class from Martijn Weiss, Michael Gerrand, Rick Coley and series winner William Croudis.

This year's series marked something of a 'changing of the guard' in the Junior ranks with young Tim Vickers stepping up to the plate in Junior 100cc Yamaha to claim day and overall series victory from another relative newcomer to the class, Tom Blomqvist, and established front-runner Henry Thomas-Kircher.

The closest finish of the day and series was in the Open class where Daniel Eggleton - just - held on to take day and series honours from recently crowned Formula 125S Series champion Daniel Bray.

When racing stopped there was just one point in it - on the day and overall. Bray also distinguished himself by finishing fourth on the day and third overall in Senior 100cc Yamaha Light!
